Digital Fabrication Lab Description + Purpose
The Digital Fabrication Lab’s primary purpose is to facilitate learning and skill development by providing access to state-of-the-art equipment and software. Users can explore and utilize a range of digital fabrication techniques, including 3D printing, laser cutting, CNC milling, and computer-aided design (CAD).
The lab plays a crucial role in the creation of prototypes and models, enabling students to bring their ideas to life in physical form. These models are invaluable for visualizing concepts, testing functionality, and refining designs. In addition, the lab encourages innovation and supports research by empowering users to experiment with new materials, fabrication techniques, and design methodologies. Furthermore, the lab fosters a collaborative environment that promotes hands-on learning and interdisciplinary collaboration. It provides a space for students to work together, exchange ideas, and learn from one another’s expertise. By engaging with cutting-edge technologies and gaining proficiency in digital fabrication, students develop valuable skills sought after by employers, enhancing their employability and professional development.
